Two New Releases + Upcoming Events

We are excited to announce two new releases from the William Ferris audio and film archives!

On November 2, 2018 we will release a DVD collection of films produced by William Ferris between 1968 and 1975 in his home state of Mississippi. The Early Films of William Ferris: 1968-1975 document the voices of African Americans as they spoke about and performed the diverse musical traditions that formed the roots of the blues.

On November 16, 2018 we will release the Voices of Mississippi: Special Vinyl LP Edition
This limited edition album features blues and gospel field recordings made by William Ferris between 1966 and 1974. All tracks are available on vinyl for the very first time.

Finally, several exciting events are taking place this month beginning on October 16, 2018 with the opening of the Bill Ferris curated exhibit I Am A Man: Civil Rights Photographs in the American South 1960-1970 at the Pavillon Populaire and University of Montpellier in Montpellier, France.

The opening will be followed by a two-day symposium October 18-19, 2018.

On October 24th, Dust-to-Digital founder and co-director Lance Ledbetter will be giving a presentation at the National Museum of Popular Music in Trondheim, Norway.

On October 25th, Ledbetter will give a presentation on Dust-to-Digital followed by a Q&A with Kent Horne at the National Library of Norway in Oslo. This event will be streamed live via the Dust-to-Digital Facebook and Instagram pages.

The night of Friday October 26th Lance Ledbetter will be a guest DJ at Kulturhuset in Oslo, Norway for the theme night “Hurts Sooo Good”

Our collaborator John Pirozzi will be screening his documentary film “Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten” at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 29th and 31st.
