Release Date: 2009
Dust-to-Digital will take its first step into the world of vinyl when it issues M. Edouard-Léon Scott's April 9, 1860 recording of a woman singing an excerpt from the French folk song "Au Clair de la Lune." We are producing the record with David Giovannoni, a driving force behind the First Sounds project. The record will be the inaugural release on our new vinyl imprint named Parlortone.
Updates on Projects in the Works
The John Fahey: Fonotone Years release, which was delayed in 2008, is shaping up as a collaboration between Dust-to-Digital and Revenant Records. In 2008, we began working with Cole Alexander of the band Black Lips to document gospel recording artists from the 1960s and '70s. The first release, centering on former Jewel Records artist Johnny L. "Hurricane" Jones (pictured below), should be out this year. The Georgia Is My Home box set, which will feature pre-war recordings made by artists from Georgia, remains in pre-production. We will continue to work on the release and will be assisting the Georgia Music Hall of Fame with updating some of their displays of these artists. Last but not least is the documentary film we are producing with Art and Neil Rosenbaum. We will have more details on it and other projects very soon.
